FAQs

Artwork

Items I make range from fully hand made to repurposed, and are one of a kind, and may have small imperfections. I am very detail oriented, but I am human and not perfect!

All products must be paid for in full before they can be shipped. Due to the handmade nature of my products, they are not refundable once the order is placed. If the item(s) is damaged in transit I will speak with the carrier about a claim.

A deposit of half the estimated cost for a commissioned piece, must be received prior to work being started, and is non-refundable. The remaining amount will be due prior to shipping.

Free shipping to the US, and please contact me for a quote for international addresses.

Bring food and water for yourself/child/pet. Colorado weather can change quickly, so please be sure to bring a jacket/coat even if it will not be in the photos.

Bring pet’s/child’s favorite toy and/or book. Having something that they know can help calm nerves from a new location and a person shoving a camera in their face!

Dogs must wear collars and leash. Leashes may only be removed if the session is in my studio or a dog park.

I photograph all kinds of pets! If you have a pet that does not travel easily, or is extremely uncomfortable in new settings, I am happy to have the session in your home.

Newborn sessions will be held in Elisa’s in-home studio. With a controlled environment, Elisa makes the little one as comfortable as possible, with access to many props!

All other sessions are on location – your choice, or we can choose one together!

High School seniors have the choice of 1-2 locations.

Before your baby is born… It is so important to plan ahead. Capturing your newborn within the first two weeks of life (ideally 5-10 days old), while they are still sleepy and curled up, can make all the difference in your newborn portraits. Since we never really know when your little one will arrive, I will pencil you in on my calendar to hold a spot for you. When your baby is born, we will move your appointment accordingly. However, if your baby is already born, beautiful images can be achieved with babies who are slightly older than 14 days, so not to worry!

I take up to three hours for a newborn session and leave plenty of time for feedings, fussing, and diaper changes! We may take several breaks for feeding your baby to ensure that he/she is happy and has a full tummy. I ask that you not be concerned with scheduled feedings during the session and that you feed baby on demand or when they get a bit fussy to ensure their comfort and a smooth session!

Newborns photograph best without any clothes at all or just a simple wrap. I have a great collection of hats, wraps, bows and headbands that coordinate beautifully with my blankets and props that I will use to stylize your images. If you have a special item you would like to incorporate, I would love for you to bring it along!

Please, if possible, dress the baby in a zip-up sleeper before arriving. This will help to not startle the baby too much when undressing.

The temperature in my home studio will be quite warm (~80°). I do this to keep your baby warm, snug and sleepy. Wear cool and comfortable clothing. Neutral colors and tones always photograph well and please avoid logos and patterns on shirts. In case there are any small accidents (there usually are!), bringing an extra set of clothes is always a good idea.

I will have water and minimal snacks available. However, I would suggest that you bring along extra food, especially if mom is breast feeding. Take advantage of the time I am spending with your child to refuel!

Both parents and siblings are encouraged to be photographed with the baby! We usually do the sibling images first, and I ask that you bring a grandparent or babysitter along to watch them once their portion of the session is completed. I do have a little play area for siblings, and there is a park across the street if they need to express their voices!

There are certain foods that are known to cause fussiness and make newborns unsettled when breastfed. If breastfeeding, please avoid those items 48h prior to the session:

  • Chocolate
  • Spices (cinnamon, garlic, curry, chilly pepper)
  • Citrus fruits and their juices (oranges, lemons, limes, grapefruit)
  • Strawberries
  • Pineapple
  • Kiwi fruit
  • Gassy veggies (onion, cabbage, garlic, cauliflower, broccoli, cucumber, peppers)
  • Fruits with laxative effects (cherries, prunes)
  • Excessive amount of caffeine

Sessions are 1-2 hours, 1-2 locations, and up to two outfits per location.

Yearbook image sized according to school specifications included.

Bring as much variety of outfits as possible (clothes and accessories). Together, we can choose the clothes that go best with the backgrounds and props you like! Please bring clothes on hangers, and make sure all wrinkles are out prior to the session.

Bring 1 or 2 personal props (optional). Those may include (but are not limited to): Sports items – like a football or jersey, items that reflect your cultural heritage, musical instruments, pet,

Most skin blemishes will disappear with standard retouching! Lightly moisturize your lips before and during your session. AVOID high gloss lip sticks and lip gloss, and makeup containing glitter. If needed, get a haircut! Have clean and filed finger nails.

Approximately one week after the photo session, the images will be edited and ready for you to take home! The ordering session will be held in my in-home studio and will include a short video of your images. You will received the edited images on USB, and will be able to order available products at that time. Products include albums, framed prints, memory boxes, canvas, metal, wood, acrylic, collage sets, gift prints, and cards!
